You know you're in for it when someone sells you something that's got that "striking contemporary look." I'm sorry, just because I don't like the style doesn't make it a bad shoe. Sure, some swanky restaurant might fit this description, but a mountain bike shoe? But wait there's more! It's got "the striking contemporary look of the world's finest sport shoes." Ahhhhh, yeah, if you live in Bratislava!

Who The Shoe Fits:A touring or trekking loony who doesn't mind a little suede in his shoe. Someone who's looking for an easy priced, brown suede shoe. Or maybe a casual rider who likes laces, but can't deal with more than one strap.

Setback: ~$80

Features:A suede upper, laces and one fat strap. The strap is fat and pulls evenly, but there's only one. The molded sole comes up high, confirming the lasting relationship between the upper and the sole. Strong enough for a lad, but made for a part-time trekker.

Factors: I couldn't believe they didn't add a little color to their downtown brown. They look army-issued, almost, but not enough to be angry. Slender, but not enough to be slick. Comfy, but not enough to be cush. Cosmopolitan, but not enough style to be freeride. They do look like they'll last a few seasons, all the same.

Tongue 'n Groove: This shoe will last and doesn't skimp on comfort, but the "the striking contemporary look of the world's finest sport shoes" still leaves me bewildered.
