Ski: Kjetil Andre Aamodt & Stephan Eberharter

Aamodt & Eberharter

It wouldn't be right to omit Norway's Kjetil Andre Aamodt and Austrian Stephan Eberharter from any great skiers of the 2002 Games list either.

Eberharter, a member of the Austrian Ski Team since 1988, racing in his final Olympics, took the trifecta, winning first the bronze in downhill, then the silver in super G, and finally a gold in the giant slalom.

"It was my last race in the Olympics and the last chance for me to win the gold. It's a very special day for me..."
— Stephan Eberharter, February 21

Aamodt earned his record-setting sixth Olympic medal by winning the combined event, surpassing the mark of five medals shared by Italian Alberto Tomba, Vreni Schneider of Switzerland and Germany's Katja Seizinger.

Then, three day's later, by a tenth of a second, Aamodt took his seventh medal, setting him even further apart from the field and upping his career total to three golds, two silvers and two bronzes. He also holds title to 10 World Championship medals.
