Doug Stoup
As the organizer of this trip, Stoup has assembled a strong team, and is looking forward to having a lot of fun on its adventure to ascend and descend the peaks of the Antarctic Peninsula.
Stoup's first climbing experience was 10 years ago in Chamonix, France, where he climbed Mont Blanc and the Walker Spur of the Grand Jorasses. He returned to the United States and subsequently climbed and summited many of the volcanoes in the Cascades and Northern Sierra, as well as 17- 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado.
In 1995, Doug climbed Denali via the West Buttress Route (20,320ft) and in '96 he summited Kilimanjaro (19,321ft). He has also climbed Mt. Cook and snowboarded the Tasman Glacier, both in New Zealand.
