Hi, this is Ed Viesturs reporting on The Mountain Zone. It's the evening of April 10th, Veikka and I are back again at Camp I. We spent the most part of this morning climbing to about 18,400 ft. We spent quite a bit of time route-finding through the glacier, fixing ropes through some seracs and at about noon, it got too warm and we had to turn around and come back to here. We're quite happy with the progress.

Tomorrow we'll go back up with full loads and hope to climb high enough to establish some sort of Camp II, hopefully in the neighborhood of 20,000 ft. The route from here goes up into the right side of the glacier and then from there we do a quick traverse to a glacial tongue which comes right down the middle of the face and that's what we hope to get onto tomorrow and we'll climb right up that, gain altitude quite rapidly and hopefully sometime later tomorrow afternoon find a place for Camp II at around 20,000 ft.

If all goes well, we'll hang out there for a couple of days. If we're feeling good and the weather's good maybe do a carry up to Camp III. It's all dependent on the weather, how well we're acclimatized and the snow conditions. But right now we're pretty happy with the way things are progressing. We're going to stay up here for several more days and get some more work done. So thanks for listening we'll report again tomorrow, hopefully in the neighborhood of 20,000 ft.
