Hey everyone, it's Ed Viesturs reporting on the Mountain Zone. It's the evening of April 4th and we're finally at Base Camp. We're at 15,300 feet. We climbed 4,000 feet today from the village of Chame. We had 27 very strong Tibetan porters; they barely even flinched carrying the loads up here, it was amazing to watch them work. So, we're all up here now. We're kind of hunkered in. We got our tents up. We've got some work to do tomorrow to batten down the hatches and organize gear and get our kitchen all set up.

But it's great to finally be up here at Base Camp — the view is amazing. We hiked along a very sharp wooded ridge today and skirted and bypassed most of the Manaslu ice fall. So, we're up above that and we're still on the moraine, and from here on up, we start working our way up the upper part of the Manaslu glacier.

So, everything is good. Veikka and I are both feeling fine. Hope everyone had a happy Easter, and we'll be checking in again soon.
