Hello, this is Peggy Foster calling from Antarctica 2004 (sic) with Robert Anderson. We flew from Patriot's Hill yesterday, with a front closing in. The pilot flew us over the vast, open, snow-swept valleys to our targeted landing point.

As we approached our landing point, there was a mass of clouds filling the valley. It was a pivotal moment for our team, to see whether we'd have to return to Patriot's Hill or make other arrangements to land. We landed five miles off our targeted landing site, with a daring, smooth landing by our pilot who brought us down, kissing the virgin snow.

We quickly unloaded the plane, and the pilot was quick to escape from the valley, billowing with clouds. We suited up and our team proceeded to climb through the night, five miles, over to our original landing site, in the raw beauty and deafening silence of the Antarctica.

By 3am we were snuggled into our bags, well-fed and warm. We woke up to sunny, clear skies and we're looking forward to starting our climb up the mountain.

That's it. Have a great day.

Peggy Foster, expedition member and MountainZone.com correspondent
