Hello it's Robert Anderson calling from Antarctica 2003. I'm happy to report that we're actually on the summit of Vinson right now. We made the climb back up the West face via the new route and crossed the summit plateau to the top, taking us about 15 hours.

It was pretty challenging. It was a spectacular effort by all the team, getting back up to the summit so soon after climbing all the way up to the plateau and then back down again, two days later climbing back up again.

We're all well, fit and healthy. We'll be returning back down to our base camp, and, solar panel allowing, we'll be updating you on the details of the climb. It's a bit foggy down in the valley now, so we'll have to wait until we get some more sunshine to fill you in on the full story.

Thank you.

Robert Anderson, expedition leader and MountainZone.com correspondent
