Video Transcript » Anja Paerson: Exclusive Interview
Questions by Patrick Lang:
So Anja the season is going to start. How do you feel?
Anja Paerson:
I feel quite well. I started with new skis. I switched to slalom from Elan. Right now I am very positive for the switch, and it's working really good in GS.
Patrick:
It was a frustrating season last year. What did you learn about it? How did you react?
Anja:
I learned a lot being in the lead. In the start, I had never been in the lead before last year. It was very meaningful to feel it. Sometimes I knew that I wasn't ready for it being in the lead but then I learned how to make it work in my head.
I was really hoping for Bormio, because I was in really top fitness and I skied really good in training. My head was at the right place, but sometimes it's so small the things that make it go wrong. But now I think very positively for next season. Surely if I'm in the lead for next time, I'm going to win it.
Patrick:
You are 19, but it is already your third World Cup season and your second World Championships at St. Anton on a very tough course. How do you feel about it?
Anja:
Yeah, I love St. Anton. I've been there once; I was second behind Trina there. I talked with her last week and she says, 'I'm going to win it.' But hopefully we can switch so that I can win it. I'm aiming for a medal, and I'm very excited to be there. It's very good for me to have a World Championships behind me because I was so surprised to go there with so much media and crowds. It was good to learn, and now I think that I'm fit for a new one.
Patrick:
How is your health? How are your knees?
Anja:
My knees are working really good. I had some good training this summer, and I haven't had any problems this year, so I am very positive.
Patrick:
Good luck to you! Thank you, Anja.
