Erik Schlopy: Exclusive Interview

Questions by Manuèle Lang:
What did you expect in Soelden?

Erik Schlopy:
Soelden...I knew I was skiing pretty well. I went down in Soelden, but I was eleventh on the intermediate time and I knew I had still a couple gears left, so, hopefully this will just be a building block, keep working up to the podium. We'll see.

Manuèle:
How important was this race today in Park City?

Erik:
It was huge because Olympics are here next year on this trail. And, it's my home town...had to deal with the home pressure, so, that was huge. Probably the biggest race of the year so far for me.

Manuèle:
What is your secret to be so good already?

Erik:
I think that I've been healthier than I have been in five years, and I've been able to train harder than I have in a long time. Just been really consistent and working on the right things.

Manuèle:
What about your material?

Erik:
Material is great. Love the Atomic skis, love the Technica boots.

Manuèle:
Do you get really used to it?

Erik:
Yes, it's my third year on Atomic now, second on Technica, so I feel like I'm starting to get a good relationship with the companies. Just feeling more comfortable with my relationship, and that's helping me get good equipment.

Manuèle:
What do you expect now for your season?

Erik:
Just keep getting better.
