Margerita Parini smoked her first run despite the dumping snow and held on to take the money in Park City. Stefan Kaltschuetz won his first ever GS and will bring the leaders' jersey on to the next World Cup stop in Japan.

Sunday morning's racing started late as Park City mountain crews were avalanche bombing everywhere. Racing finally got underway around 11am as wet snow was falling. Temperatures were quite moderate and the course had "grippy" wet snow.

The ladies were the first to race and the Americans did not give their best performance. Betsy Shaw and Rosey Fletcher both DNF'd in the first run and Lisa Kosglow was disqualified in the second run. Sondra Van Ert was 11th after her first run and five seconds behind Parini's ultimately unbeatable first run.

Europeans completed a clean sweep of the medals as Parini, with a two second margin after the first run, put together a clean second run to take the title. Karine Ruby (FRA), the Olympic Gold winner, was sitting in third after the first run at almost three seconds behind Parini. Ruby had the best second run of the ladies and took second. Nathalie Desmares (FRA) finished third after moving up five spots from her first run.

If it wasn't for Canadian Jasey Jay Anderson, the Euros would have taken home all the loot. Anderson, who just won the ISF World Championships , had the second best first run and is finally getting his season under control. Charlie Cosnier (FRA) had the best time in his first run, reaching the line a half second ahead of Anderson. Matthieu Bozzetto (FRA) was in third going into the last run and Stefan Kaltschuetz (AUT) was in fourth.

In the final run, Salt Lake City's Jeff Archibald, was sitting in the lucky 13 spot. Archibald put in an impressive second run and kept the lead through several racers. He ended up in fifth pushing his way up to the side of the podium.

Cosnier did not repeat with as much authority in his second run and had to settle for fourth. Bozzetto took third with a solid second run. Anderson took second just .11 seconds behind the Kaltschuetz. Kaltschuetz, the 21-year-old Austrian, was ecstatic with first World Cup win as has been on the podium with many seconds and thirds already this season.
