Doug Stoup
Doug Stoup first met other members of the expedition, Doug Coombs and Dirk Collins, in Alaska three years ago. As the organizer of this trip, Stoup has assembled a strong team, and is looking forward to having a lot of fun on its adventure to ascend and descend Vinson, as well as exploring other mountains in the Ellsworth Range.

Stoup's first climbing experience was 10 years ago in Chamonix, France, where he climbed Mont Blanc and the Walker Spur of the Grand Jorasses. He returned to the United States and subsequently climbed and summited many of the volcanoes in the Cascades and Northern Sierra, as well as 17 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado.

In 1995, Doug climbed Denali via the West Buttress Route (20,320ft) and in '96 he summited Kilimanjaro (19,321ft). He has also climbed Mt. Cook and snowboarded the Tasman Glacier, both in New Zealand.

In addition to climbing and snowboarding Vinson Massif, one of Stoup's goals is to record this expedition for a television documentary. His passion is to capture the spirit of strength and determination on the group's adventure in one of the most remote places on earth.
