 Mt Sanford Mt. Sanford is a big snow-cone of a volcano guarding the western ramparts of the Wrangell Mountains in Alaska - and a very appealing ski peak. In 1991 a group of us climbed and skied Sanford on a two week trip that left an indelible mark on my memory. I canŐt seem to shake the timeless feel I got from the tundra country. There were several miles of tundra to cross between the wilderness airstrip and the edge of the snow, and it was enough to allow me to fall in love with it. The night before being flown out we were treated to a herd of caribou passing by very near where this photo was taken. |
