Cutting it up on the Wapta
As a skier myself, I find backcountry skiing one of the most difficult subjects to photograph. Not because it is hard to find inspiration or that it is technically challenging, but because I so often get caught up in skiing the slope myself. I have to exert a lot of discipline to play the role of photographer while the powder is flying. This photo was taken on a week-long Wapta Icefield traverse in Canada where we found plenty of great skiing, here below Mt. Balfour on a very pleasant evening of yo-yo skiing without the heavy packs.
