Eco-Challenge Sabah 2000 is a battle to the wire. Foot rot and blisters compound with the unforgiving climate to wreak havoc with the bodies and spirits of even the best racers in the world.

This race is brutal. As the river rose, race officials declared the Segama River swimming section “unsafe” for 21 teams, re-routing them through a shorter, altered course. But “shorter” in this 500+K race doesn’t mean easy. For those competing in this year’s Eco-Challenge, nothing is easy.
