Dual Slalom #5
Battle of the M-C's
Miller tops Muxlow, Cullinan beats Carter

Carter settles for 2nd
By Saturday evening the weather had gone from bad to good to bad again, the DS getting underway below a mix of sunshine and rains covering the twisting red and blue course. By the race's mid-point the rains cleared for a bit of clear sun, before that too disappeared behind the peaks of Breckenridge. The track itself drained the evening rains very well as the men and women began the process of eliminating each other on their way to a weekend's victory.

On the women's side that eliminator was Katrina Miller (AUS, Jamis) who out- rode Aussie Tai-Lee Muxlow (GT/Hutchinson) in the cold evening air. Miller has won plenty of events this season, due in no small part to her command of the doubles. Sari Jorgenson (SUI, Yeti) won the consolation round.

The men's event was won by David Cullinan (USA, Schwinn-Toyota) who - also familiar with the podium in this sport - beat Eric Carter (USA, GT) in the final round. Taking about 35 seconds to complete, the men's event proved not only that long courses rule, but also that - in nearly every instance - the heats were won by the first turn. Bart McDaniel (USA, Azonic-Qranc) took third as the winner of the consolation round.
