1. Figure out which browser you are using.
Browsers commonly display their brand name and sometimes the version number when you first start them. However, this startup screen may go off the screen too quickly. If this happens to you, simply select "Help | About..." from the main menu once the browser is loaded. The exact menu option may read "Help | About Internet Explorer," "Help | About Navigator..." or "Help | About Netscape...."
2. Find your browser type in the list below and follow the steps.
Communicator 4.x
- Go to "Edit | Preferences..." from the main menu.
- Select "Advanced" panel.
- (To enable): make sure "Enable JavaScript" check box is checked. (To disable): make sure "Enable JavaScript" check box is unchecked.
- Restart your browser.
Explorer 4.x
- Go to "View | Internet Options..." from the main menu.
- Change to the "Security" tab.
- Select "Custom" and click on the "Settings..." button.
- (To enable): make sure "Enable" is selected under "Active scripting." (To disable): make sure "Disable" is selected under "Active scripting."
- Restart your browser.
Simply reloading the page, rather than restarting the browser, may be sufficient with certain browser versions.
