Editor's Note: Alpine Ascents International said Jan. 3 the two climbers reportedly killed on Mount Kilimanjaro were not part of the Alpine Ascents expedition but were independent climbers ascending with local guides. It has been reported that Werner Hoain, 55, of Germany died December 30 and Jennifer Lambelet, 54, of the US died the following day.
