My second run down the course is much more thorough. At this stage I am planning my run, trying to link many hard sections or jumps. I always try to put as much difficulty and action in my run as possible, but at the same time I definitely want to keep my fluidity high. I memorize every little detail here. The snow condition, depth, position of dangerous rocks, etc. I'm also thinking about what some of the other top competitors might do.
Hopefully I will have a few more runs to refine my line and memorize all the details that will make it a winner. By the time I get to the start for my run, I am able to close my eyes and imagine myself skiing the line perfectly, sticking every air, and winning the run. This positive mental imagery is one of the elements that separates the top skiers from the rest of the field...
