Late nite sushi had our couch guest swinging from the ceiling rafters but some how I managed to close my lids and as I dozed off, the floor outlet began sizzling from melted snow that'd found it's way down. With a smoking floor and the tech crew's wires snaking from each plug in the wall, we were definitely a fire hazard, but we awoke to no smoke.
Peering through the blinds, the hanging clouds screamed snow but fresh flakes just weren't in the cards. Not to worry though, we slid onto the near-empty lifts and found ourselves courseside in no time.
Post-pipe, we stole a few speed runs on mushy groomers and at the end of lap four, the BBQ sparked and the railslide popped. Chef Steve "Vans" Doren had dogs grilling and an even bigger treat for the best male and female slide amongst other things, the winners took home a box of Oreos...do I hear double stuffed?
Since the coals hadn't absorbed every last drop of lighter fluid, team Vans tried setting the rail on fire for kicks. I'm not sure if someone planned on busting through the flames, but the blaze never started not enough juice I guess. I'm thinking kerosene at Snow Summit in February.
So far, I haven't seen anyone launch the biggest kicker of the litter, but it all begins tomorrow with some practice - gates drop early for the SBX followed by some big air...then Friday night rolls around hang on tight people...
