Crossing the Line
USA's Team Adventure One Grabs Fourth
[scroll down for earlier reports]

Team Adventure One arrived home in fourth place. All members appeared in great shape and were the only team to arrive to date without blisters and severe foot problems.

The secret strategy to keeping their feet in top shape throughout the race was to meticulously keep them dry from sweat and water by toweling them regularly — a laborious process but well worth the effort.

Team member Valerie commented that this year's race "had given them the opportunity to see everything there is to see in Morocco" and laughing "including many nasty rockfalls in the mountain legs"

Richard Crane commented that the mountain biking leg was "dire" and not something they would want to attempt in the dark...

Hang tight..cause the first of the Kiwi's is due some time tonight.

A beat Nerea Urruzola,
Team Cepos
Aussie Second, Cepos Third

Twenty-two minutes after the arrival of Team Aussie, the Spanish Team Cepos crossed the finish line outside the city walls of Marrakech to claim third place.

Team Cepos had been the race leader since the second evening of this event. Event organizers were continually amazed at the pace this team had set. At times it made for frenzied media activity trying to keep up with the team on course.

" After arriving at the finish podium the team's (Cepos) female member Nerea Urruzola visibly broke down...."

Cepos had appeared unstoppable until late last night when they were passed by Team Vail during the grueling mountain bike leg to the finish. Early this morning they were again passed by Team Aussie.

After arriving at the finish podium the team's female member Nerea Urruzola visibly broke down. The physical and emotional pressure of this event is huge and we can only imagine the relief of reaching the finish. The image of her shoes abandoned at the race finish says it all.
