Kicking His Feet Up

Transcript:
Hello, it's Craig Calonica at Everest base camp, Monday the 6th, almost 9:00 pm. Still not able to get out of here and go get my eye checked. Zero transportation — kind of like being on a desert island on this side. Once you're stuck, you're stuck.

Anyway, there is no one on the mountain any longer. Everyone is gone. There are a couple strays around packing up and throwing things in cars and bailing, and that's about it. The weather to date would not have allowed me to go and take a crack at the summit as it's been so far. So nothing lost yet.

I'm still sitting here, kicking my feet up, wanting to scream. But like I said yesterday, I'm afraid if I do that something will fall off. So I'm just trying to keep quiet like the doctor said, and keep any pressure off that might occur and create more bleeding inside the eye. It's about all I can do until I get a ride out of here.

Anyway, we'll be sending you a final report here fairly soon, a summary of the whole climb, and tell you about what's coming up new afterwards. Okay, I hope everyone is alright. Bye-bye.

— Craig Calonica, Expedition Leader
