Hello this is Dana Isherwood, with AAI's Vinson Massif Expedition to Mount Vinson and the Antarctic. I am reporting for Willi Prittie who is halfway up Mount Vinson from Camp III to the summit today, as I'm calling you. He just phoned to say that it's beautifully clear this afternoon. The temperature's -30ºF, with winds from the west at 10-30mph. They are very cold in their one-fourth boots; their hands are even cold in their OR expedition mitts and their water bottles have frozen in their Feathered Friends down suits. So, we're wishing Willi well, and he and Michele should be on the summit in a couple of hours, if the weather doesn't get any worse.

As Dana Isherwood and a member of this expedition, I also wanted to add a personal note to this broadcast. My attempt on the Vinson Massif represents a mission to carry a dozen or so tribute flags to the summit, each one honoring a woman who's had breast cancer. These flags were carried to the top of Mount Aspiring, in New Zealand, earlier this year, for the Expedition Inspiration Breast Cancer Research Fund. Although a back injury forced me to turn around on Mount Vinson 1200 feet from the summit, they were flown on the summit by my friend and AAI guide, Willi Prittie. So thanks Willi, the flags will now be returned to the women or their families when I get back. So, keep up the good work Willi and Michele and we'll be looking forward soon to hearing that they've reached the summit. This is Dana Isherwood, over and out.
