Expedition Waiting Game Tuesday, December 21, 1999
Hello this is Willi Prittie calling from the Alpine Ascents International Antarctica Vinson Massif climb and everybody is at Base Camp at this time. We're enjoying beautiful weather at Base Camp, however the rest of Antarctica is not quite so fortunate. There's still no C-130 Hercules flying weather [Unintelligible] in Patriot Hills, due to high winds and snow at Patriot Hills. Also, we're having a problem with everybody getting back to Patriot Hills, as a result of a potential rescue operation that they're having to conduct using the Twin Otter of a...[Unintelligible]...apparently for...[Unintelligible]...report. So that aircraft is out and apparently the DC-3 is also not available and the Cessna is sitting without a propeller. The second Twin Otter that we were expecting to fly us out of Base Camp is going to be apparently delayed a couple of extra days. Plus with no Hercules flying weather and getting short on supplies, they're holding us all here pretty much at Vinson Base. So, we're playing the expedition waiting game again here only this time at Base Camp and we have more supplies not worrying about the summit. Getting a bit of read time and...[transmission fails].
