High in the Sky Monday, December 27, 1999
Buenos días, Mountain Zone. This is Vern Tejas with Team Millennium down on Aconcagua, South America, Argentina. Good gracious it was a big day today. The weather was perfect and we moved up food and fuel all the way up to 19,000ft, or just roughly around 6000m. Holy smokes, that's high in the sky. We were able to pull it off with a fair amount of rhythm. I was impressed with the men; they're really coming together as a team. And we're able to pace ourselves smoothly, slowly, of course, because of the lack of oxygen, but slowly we worked our way up and made real good time...[transmission fails].
