Corsica Raid Aventure
Race Information
13 DEC 2000

Hello to all and a special thought to those of you who are about to discover Corsica Raid Aventure in its seventh version, from May 19-26, 2001.

We are just back from our third recognizance trip and things are starting to get clearer, both in our minds and on the field. Luckily, we have had an Indian summer here and it is finishing slowly with the very first snows. With very strong regular rains which swelled the rivers, the weather conditions are almost those which you will experience, although we do not have those high spring temperatures and our nights are much cooler.

The Seventh Corsica Raid promises to be great. It will be so because the new non-stop formula enables us to plan events which we had been dreaming of, but which were so far technically impossible. In addition, the idea of a canyoning day really appeals to us because it will enable you to fully enjoy a route which we could not have implemented by hanging a stop watch around your neck.

Canyoning day — without revealing too much — will consist in a sequence of two canyons which offer the advantage of being geographically very close, while being completely different. All your expectations can be satisfied: intense free hand abseiling , with 2-12 meter (optional) jumps, swimming parts in splendid basins and last but not least, the discovery of the Corsican maquis, a local Corsican environment which you should discover before the race really starts. Now, you are familiar with a good part of this dream day. The site remains to be discovered — it is pure magic and will remain top secret until May 19.

Monday morning, May 21: departure signal. For the time being, we do not want to tell you more, otherwise we will not have any dream material left for you until our next installment. But the idea of a non-stop, six-day race really pleases us. You will also love it, we have no doubts! So we will get back to you very soon on-line. We are setting out again on Thursday morning to time the sea kayaking course (we will need help because it promises to be a long one).

Registrations are coming in. Do not miss your chance. For more information on registering for the race email race organizers at info@corsicaraid.com.

Best Regards,
Michel & Vanessa Baciocchi

Note: With the next episode, you will be able to discover snows on the roofs on Corsica, a long crossing over high mountains, sea kayaking along marvelous beaches and coasts, a trip through a small, solid, still almost-virgin mountain mass, and the secret details of the organization work, which we will perhaps reveal.
