New York Hi-Tec The Final Test

On May 21, 2000 the series began, five months and seven races later the Hi-Tec Final give teams one last chance to prove their themselves.

Pittsburgh Hi-Tec Toughest Field of Teams

Team Exide Batteries, usually considered a "good team with great athletes" became a great team this weekend. In the last race before the Hi-Tec finals, the team was able to regroup, refocus and rise to the top.

The Star Spangled Banner, sung by 17-year-old Amanda Kozloski, rocked the still night air as team members, now labeled the "Seeker," the "Waiter" and the "One Who is Lost," readied for the start.

Sacramento Hi-Tec Rocks, Roots, Sand...and the Desert Night

In a muddled start, two members of each team were positioned in their kayaks 200 yards out into the lake while the third member had to swim out. How in a sea of yellow Sevylor kayaks was one member to find his team?

Dallas Hi-Tec F.A.S.T.

In typical fashion, adventure racers were given instructions Saturday night before the race. Team Hi-Tec then took the stage and spelled out an acronym aimed at helping racers focus and succeed.

Team Exide Batteries Rallies
Atlanta, GA: 18 JUN 2000

The third race of the 2000 Series, held outside of Atlanta, Georgia, at Ft. Yargo State Park, started off brutal and stayed brutal. The 290 three-person teams began the race with the never-before-seen Monkey on Your Back special test.

Miami Hi-Tec Team Balance Bar Still on Top

With its second win, Team Balance Bar is already building the reputation as the team to beat. However, like most Adventure Races, the true extremes of the Hi-Tec race were found behind the winning team when one athlete passed out while riding her mountain bike.

Los Angeles Hi-Tec 2000 Kick-off: Rattlesnakes and Fire Ants

Not only did these extreme athletes have to negotiate these ever-present pests, but also for the first time in series history, Hi-Tec Adventure Racing series producer Michael Epstein did not present the order of events.
