 | The team has never participated in anything like Eco-Challenge before, and hopes to use their progress through the race to inspire other "everyday" people. The team connected because they all play guitar together. They are currently working with at-risk children, helping to provide outdoor experiences for the kids. The team decided to call themselves "Goonies" based on the popular 80's movie. Ruben has seen the film 35 times. They want to inspire "regular people" by their competition in the race.

Alyson is a member of the Marina del Rey Outrigger Club, and recently completed "Conquer the Coast," an adventure racing training course. She has extensive experience rock climbing, including climbs in Yosemite, The Prow, Heuco Tanks, and numerous places in France. Alyson also enjoys horseback riding, and has been a member of the Oregon State University Equestrian team and a professional horse trainer. She also mountain bikes, ice climbs, treks, and surfs.
