The team supports and raises money for Challenge Aspen, a program providing outdoor possibilities for individuals with disabilities. Brian has worked extensively with Grassroots Aspen Experience and Challenge Aspen as an adaptive instructor and guide. Three team members, Ben Niiler, Chris Morrow, and Brian Hightower play or have played rugby with the Gentlemen of Aspen Rugby Team. Chris and Brian have represented the United States in World Cup Rugby matches. For the past two years, Brian has coached the Dartmouth College Rugby Team. During the race, many of Brian's former 7th grade students will follow the race via the internet.

Ben is a two-year competitor in the original Pole Peddle Paddle Race of Bend, Oregon. He has also been a member of the Gentlemen of Aspen Rugby Club since 1992. Ben is an accomplished outdoorsman, experienced in mountaineering, rafting, mountain biking, and scuba diving.

Amy is a competitive athlete, with numerous top 5 finishes in triathlons throughout New England and Colorado. Amy also competes in the Elk Mountain Grand Traverse Cross Country Ski Race. She also has extensive experience kayaking up to class IV, climbing, hiking, and mountain biking.
