Sonja was one of the UK's top five female triathletes before moving to South Africa. In 1996, she ruptured her Achilles tendon, and had to take two years off from competing. Sonja is currently the South Africa Canoe Ultra Triathlon Champion.

Hano is an experienced runner with numerous top ten finishes in half, full, and ultra marathons, like the Comrades Ultra Marathon, the Rhodes Ultra Mountain Race, and the OK Marathon. He is an experienced kayaker and river guide, with two successful runs of the Zambesi River. Hano teaches high ropes courses, and is an experienced hiker and orienteer.
