She's dominated the World Cup so it's really no wonder Katja Seizinger led a German sweep of the women's combined today, taking her third Alpine medal of these Games and her second in as many days.

The combined event consists of a downhill and two slalom runs.

Seizinger, 25, is only the second woman to win triple golds and now has joined Swiss Vreni Schneider in the Olympic history books.

The German bomber, who won seven World Cup downhill and Super G races this season, with a six-in-a-row streak, lay down two flawless runs today in a combined time of 2:40.74. She now adds these Olympic golds to her '94 Lillehammer downhill gold.

In an unfortunate turn, Sweden's Pernilla Wiberg, who won silver to Seizinger's gold in the downhill, crashed out five gates before the bottom in the first slalom run.

Seizinger's compatriot Martina Ertl earned silver with her combined time of 2:40.92 followed by Hilde Gerg at 2:41.50, giving Germany a 1-2-3 sweep. American Caroline Lalive, who finished seventh, was quoted as saying, "I looked up at the podium and thought that 2002 could be a real bright spot in the future for us."

The slalom portion of this combined was the first Alpine event to be held on time. Seizinger may add to her cache as the women move to Shiga Kogen for the slalom on Thursday and the giant slalom on Friday
