from Mount Snow
The feelings around the tents, and in the venue, are of a kindred spirit. Brothers and sisters are frolicking in the sunshine in spandex and sunglasses. The atmosphere here is so inviting, we think some competitors will lose all inhibitions and bear all in the super underground Naked Crit. Stay tuned for all the action. From the Downhill to the DS (Dual Slalom), from the parties and the "Crit" to the Cross Country and naming of the US National Team going to the World Championships. Race Preview: Welcome Back
The weekend of the NORBA National Championship Series finals is expected to draw more than 2,500 riders and 30,000 spectators, making the finals weekend the biggest and most prominent mountain bike race in New England. Additionally, on Sunday, August 23, the world team selection will be announced. This team will represent the United States at the World Championships held this fall. Yeah, we got some tongue lashing last year, but The Naked Crit is well worth it. I mean it is naked people. The word on the street is the current sponsors of this underground event are backing out because it's getting too %$@* big. We'll find out. About The Crit from last year "A long tradition at Mount Snow (though officially they have nothing to do with it) is the Naked Crit. This event combines mountain biking and nudity and is a very popular sport amongst spectators. Crit or criterion is a short race and the parking lot in front of the Sundance lift in Mount Snow was the location of this grand event. "I have to admit it, I came late and missed the guys riding around in all their glory. We were finishing our Lobstah Dinnah for the VIPs but it didn't make much matter, as the women's event was the real crowd pleaser. As the women prepared for the race, some of the highlights were the "Grundig Girl" and Eden. "The "Grundig Girl" had taken the tape from the race course and made it into a "bathing suit." Eden didn't wear anything (except shoes). Also, some of mountain biking's top riders took off their clothes for the crowd. Missy Giove (USA-Volvo/Cannondale) was wearing a white beret and not much more when she rode two laps around the screaming and cheering parking lot. Shaun Palmer (USA-Mt.Dew/Specialized) was seen at the event running behind the "Grundig Girl" for two laps for no apparent reason."
