The Mount Si massif is located northwest of North Bend, Washington. The summit of Mt Si itself, known as The Haystack, looks down on the town, a Snoqualmie River confluence, Little Si, and has views out to Seattle and much of the Puget Sound area. The trail up Mount Si is the most popular hike in the state. with a huge parking lot that is full in summer and even packed in the winter months when much of the route up high is snowy. Dedicated hikers and those training for higher peaks like Mt. Rainier will be trudging up the trail despite the weather conditions. Many of the hikers don't attempt the class 3 scramble up The Haystack, but they are still rewarded with excellent views from the area just below it. The trail is closed to horses and mountain bikes to avoid conflicts with the hiking masses. See our map above for the location and to get directions. Zoom in to see the trail map and trailhead.
