Ladies, have you ever walked in the woods and either a) gotten pissed off at
guys because they can relieve themselves anywhere without so much as
skipping a step, or b) gotten pissed off at yourself for being too afraid of
exposing all to the point where you withhold beyond the comfort zone? With the
Split P integrated system of outer bib and undertight by Isis For Women you can go
ahead; excuse yourself.
With the Split P tights, made from four-way Polartec PowerStretch
fleece, your tush won't be offered to the elements. A silky Coolmax Alta
pull-apart fly (similar to a guy's boxer short flap) makes it easy to squat
and stay warm when answering the call of nature. The tight works in harmony
with the Valkyrie Split P bibpants. A Velcro-secured flap hides the
front-to-back flexible waterproof zipper on the bib so that it's zip, sit,
split and relieve when you're miles from a restroom or wearing a harness. The
Split P is also a great way to discreetly ventilate when strenuously
snowshoeing, skiing or climbing.
The form-flattering bib is made of a three-layer waterproof/breathable
faille weave nylon pant sewn to a Schoeller dry skin and Coolmax bib/vest
top that's lightweight; flexible and moisture wicking. The technical
features of the bib include soft, Velstretch shoulder straps that stay
comfortable under pack straps and securely fastened when making high reach
moves. Two zippered chest pockets with Coolmax mesh pocket bags are
positioned above your hips and below your breasts for easy access, and they
are roomy enough to carry climbing skins. The roll top cargo pocket on the
right thigh not only feels cool, but offers a convenient place for your
energy bars and trail map. The to-your-hip, two-way waterproof side zips with double Velcro welt
construction keep weather out, or also let you ventilate.
My only two gripes about the system are that when you walk you can feel the
zipper between your legs (not necessarily a bad thing) and, because of my
bubble butt, one of the flaps of the tight can cling to a cheek in an
uncomfortable thong sort of way despite trying the larger size. But you get
used to both situations once you start moving. The technical features
compensate for any initial awkwardness. FYI, be careful to still wipe or
you'll be waddling with clammy, floppy flaps for the rest of your trek.
MSRP: $85 for the tight, $325-Valkyrie Bib.
