Tuesday, October 08, 2002

Los Angeles, CA (October 2, 2002)- The 2002 Hi-Tec Adventure Racing Series final will take place in Los Angeles, CA as a night race on Saturday, October 19, 2002. The LA Hi-Tec Adventure Race will bring together the premiere athletes of the adventure racing community in an event that will crown a 2002 Hi-Tec Adventure Racing Series Champion. More than 1,000 competitors will file into Lake Castaic Recreation Area for the eighth and final event in the 2002 Hi-Tec Adventure Racing Series.

To stay in the spirit of providing the competitors with adventure, this year's race will take place at night. Race start is 6:30 pm with racers competing 3-6 hours into the dark of the night. Competitors will test their skill levels in trail running, mountain biking and kayaking through various park terrains. The distinctive mystery "special tests" that the Hi-Tec Adventure Races are well known for will notably challenge team dynamics.

The Hi-Tec Adventure Racing Series is comprised of mental and physical challenges developed to test teamwork. Teams of three complete 5-8 miles of trail running, 10-15 miles of mountain biking, 1-3 miles of kayaking and 8-10 mystery special tests. Divisions include: Coed Elite, Coed, Female, Male, Corporate, and a Masters division (combined ages of 120+).

Teams are comprised of families, friends and countless other combinations of people coming together to experience adventure racing firsthand. Although each competitor has traveled a different road with numerous twists and turns, their paths converge at the Hi-Tec Adventure Race. They will come together to share their diverse pasts with fellow athletes to celebrate a common passion.
