SRAM Adds Disc Brakes To Line-Up
Lightweight and compact Hydraulic system
Friday, July 26, 2002

Chicago, IL -- SRAM Corporation announces the addition of Disc brakes to its 9.0 component group. With Hydraulic actuated sets that provide exceptional braking performance, a powerful feel, and the quality product you have come to expect from SRAM, these Disc brakes are a positive addition to SRAM's MTB lineup.

The SRAM 9.0 Disc brakes offer a lightweight and compact Hydraulic system, made up of high quality and durable componentry. They deliver a powerful feel with optimized modulation. The 9.0 fully Hydraulic system provides a highly efficient power transfer, while its compact design offers a lightweight alternative to other Disc brakes. The 9.0 set, including brake lever, caliper, and brake line weighs a minimal 292 grams. Lower weight may be attributed to the extremely compact design of the 9.0's four piston caliper. This caliper's piston design is differentiated, allowing for even pressure across the fully retracting brake pads, achieving a silent, drag-free performance. Unique to SRAM's Disc brakes is a specially formulated, all-condition brake pad compound. It is exceptionally durable and provides maximum stopping power. The master cylinder of SRAM's 9.0 Disc brake is also lightweight and minimal in size, while the split-clamp design of the brake lever allows for easy installation. There's no need to remove the grip or shifter. The high-pressure, stainless steel braid of the 9.0 brake line hose is not only lined with a protective coating, but features a very tight weave, making for ultra durable construction. Specially formulated, stainless steel rotors of the SRAM 9.0 Disc brakes are also heavy duty, vented, and designed not to warp under intense heat. 9.0 rotors are available in 160mm-diameter standard with a 180mm-diameter option. With their lightweight and compact design, powerful feel and quality composition, the New SRAM 9.0 Disc brakes are ideal for cross country riding.

The suggested retail price of the 9.0 Disc brakes is $185 for the front set, and $185 for the rear.

SRAM's New 9.0 Disc brakes deliver top braking performance, optimal modulation and SRAM's quality construction. SRAM presents the highest quality Disc brake technology.
