HIKING TERRAIN OPENS AT THE TOP OF THE GONDOLA
Lace up those boots 'cause it's hiking time! Summer hiking at the Top of the Gondola is now open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. until 7:45 p.m. The trails, ranging from easy to more difficult, meander through the High Sierra forest and provide awesome views of Lake Tahoe. Routes vary from 1.6 miles to just under 4 miles round-trip. Make sure to wear proper footwear and bring along additional sunscreen and water. http://www.skiheavenly.com/links/hiking.html

HEAVENLY SOARS ABOVE THE REST EARNING SILVER EAGLE AWARD
Heavenly Ski Resort recently received the prestigious Silver Eagle Award in Environmental Excellence for Visual Impact at the National Ski Areas Association annual convention. Awarded by Time4 Media's Mountain Sports Media, Heavenly earned its recognition for the new $23 million Gondola, which rises from the Stateline area nearly 3,000 feet above the Lake to the heart of the mountain, with minimal visual and environmental disturbances.
