For Nike ACG, and life in the outdoors, it's about maximum mobility using
lightweight fabrics that offer protection from whatever nasty environment
you put yourself in. That's why we use Clima-FIT Ultra Lite.
Clima-FIT Ultra Lite is a moisture- and wind-resistant fabric by virtue of
its construction. It's secrets are the weave and the fiber: Its
densely-woven 100-percent polyester microfiber filaments (.69 DPF,
denier-per-filament) repels water without the need for coating materials
(surpassing the Hydrostatic Suter Test for water-resistance). The result is
ultra-light weight fabric-80 grams per meter squared, the lightest weight in
the outdoor market-that's windand water-resistant, surpassing Clima-FIT for
extreme weather protection and comfort.
"For it to maintain the level of water resistance and still be lightweight
requires really new technology, very high microfiber," says Tina Baer, Nike
ACG Materials Manager. "It's woven very tight, without a coating. And it's
ripstop. Normally you can't do this with ripstop. Water gets through the
crosses. This material will keep you dry and warm, the wind won't get you,
and it makes a very packable jacket."
Look for it in Oregon Series apparel like the Oregon Shell Jacket, and
Oregon Shell Pant.
