Salomon Nordic for 01/02
Performance Oriented Active Line Delivers New Colors and Aesthetics
Tuesday, April 2, 2002

2001-2002 Season — Nordic skiing has been enjoying rejuvenation over the past few years with product innovations like the Salomon SNS Pilot System. Many active sports enthusiasts who have traditionally shied away from winter activities are now finding their way to nordic skiing in search of exercise and fun. To welcome the wider range of consumers, Salomon is revamping its Nordic collection with new colors and aesthetics.

"Nordic ski equipment has progressed to the point that it’s no longer considered just a workout, but it’s also considered great fun," explains Don Powell, Nordic category manager for Salomon North America. "It can be a social experience for some, and a means of solitude for others. With Salomon reaching out to a broader audience, it makes sense to offer cooler, more fun colors and aesthetics to compliment the most technical equipment in the industry."

Salomon has updated its cross-country skiing collection with new colors and new aesthetics developed with the North American consumer in mind. These new, sleeker color waves add style and flair for gliding winter fun or serious competition.

The Active line — for performance oriented athletes for whom nordic skiing is one of the many sports in which they participate — sees the Active 9 Skate, Vitane 9 Skate, and the Active 9 Classic with new sleeker color waves. Also new in the Active line is the introduction of the 7 series — the

Active 7 and the Vitane 7 — both designed for discerning cross-country skiers who practice both classic and skate skiing. The Escape line — the choice for family or friends who want to play in the winter playground — also sees new colors and aesthetics in the Escape 6 and Vitane 6, and the Escape 4 and Vitane 4. Bindings within both categories have been updated with new colors.
