Volant Sports Premiers New Ski Technology
Debuts its lighter, more aggressive carving V2 ski technology
Wednesday, February 13, 2002

Volant Sports, a Division of Gen-X Sports, the leading distributor of the world re-known performance-enhancing ski, will debut it's lighter, more aggressive carving V2 ski technology at the industry 'On-Snow' demonstrations throughout the month of February.

V2 Technology, nicknamed skirt technology, promotes the use of higher strength steel, lighter tip construction and new lighter core materials, 'skirt' technology allows for the best possible edge grip in all conditions with lower overall stiffness for effortless turn initiation. In the past, Volant used a full stainless steel cap construction that encapsulated the outer layer of the ski, which acted as the sidewall, and as a supportive layer between the core and edges. With V2 technology, steel walls will no longer be barriers to a lighter, livelier and more graphically appealing Volant Ski.

The "skirt" made up of a patented hybrid of fiberglass and thermoplastic, creates a smoother edge feel and a flawless turn initiation by isolating the steel cap. In conjunction with a shorter tip the new Volants are lighter than most comparable wood core metal hybrids skis. The overall lighter weight with inherent steel stability and torsion provides the best of both worlds.

Volant Sports will premiere their new flagship gold "V2 Genesis" skis at the Las Vegas dealer show. "The V2 Genesis ski will be the all-mountain nimble cruiser for the true Volant consumer who craves the ultimate skiing experience". Vapor Gold and " High Buffed Chrome" are the decadence of this line.

The line most recognized in the Volant Sports family is the Gravity Series. Designed with the feedback of a generation of skiers, this line is replacing the Ti and T3 models of years past. The Gravity series holds three unique designs that rang from the "off-piste" all mountain cruiser, to the hard-pack die-hard speedster.

Volant Sports will also be showcasing the Vertex series with the new V2 technology. The Vertex series is most admired as the performance ski that revolutionized the way women ski. The air channeled core, lighter tip construction and Alu-Twill sidewalls, give this series the highest in performance for all skiing abilities.

Tearing down the slopes like a Radio Flyer on a mission will be the Machete series. This series rocked the ski world in its 1999 pre-season debut, when Shane McConkey ripped through the glades on the ski that had the free world screaming for more. The Machete series will also get the Alu- Twill boost and will also introduce two machetes for the junior and teen markets, a first in Volant's history.

Volant Sports not only has delivered a lighter ski then in years past, but the new V2 technology opens a genre of graphical capabilities and components. V2/02
