Day 2 // Fierce Competition // 4 of 4

Word began to spread of another team approaching. "Eco-Internet is just behind, is that right?" asked AussieSpirit.com's Nigel Aylott, 34.

"Don't worry about them. Let's worry about ourselves," said the hulking Jacoby, stuffing plastic bags full of food and supplies into his pack.

Moments later, two members of Team Salomon/Eco-Internet jogged towards the bike interchange gear tent. "Hey guys," said Robyn Benincasa.

"Hey guys," replied Team Aussie's Dalziel.

No further words were exchanged.

By 9:42 a.m., more than an hour after they'd arrived, Team AussieSpirit.com strapped their bulky packs to their bike racks. "OK," said Aylott, the only Eco-Challenge rookie on the Australian team. "We ride."
