Team Hi-Tec, all Eco-Challenge veterans, placed 10th at this year's Eco-Challenge race. But, as team captain David Kelly revealed, the ending of an Eco-Challenge isn't necessarily a good thing.
"The last couple of hours before the finish, there's excitement," Kelly said. "And at the same time, there's a tremendous amount of sadness."
Kelly calls the phenomenon P.E.D.S. or Post Eco Depression Syndrome. And Kelly should know; he's raced in five Eco-Challenge races, placing as high as 9th -- in British Columbia, 1996.
"The finishline marks the end of a whole series of experiences," said Kelly. "And there's an incredible let-down that comes with it."
Of course, there's always next year.
