66 Degrees
We're camped on the Fish Islands, south of Prospect Point tonight. We had planned to camp on the mainland but heavy brash ice prevented us from getting access a good landing point on the coast. We have only a short way to go before crossing the Antarctic Circle now.
Yesterday we had an awesome paddle across to Duchaylard Island. A heavy snowstorm came in part way through the crossing, and with a feisty 20kts of wind behind us, we had very low visibility for several hours. It's always something of a relief when sticking to a compass course brings you home. When we emerged from the snowstorm to find the island right in front of us, there were cheers all round!
Tomorrow we'll continue our paddle south and if all goes well we'll get another 40km under our belts. Here's hoping for fine weather and fair winds.
