Sweet Creek Race Recap

Well, we finally got some water and got to go boating.

Two weekends ago we had the Sweet Creek Race. It was a smashing success in it's beautiful laid back organized chaos. The entire race was head to head single elimination over narrow class V rapids and drops. The biggest drop was only 10 feet, but we did get to watch people battle for the lead and every now and then run it on top of their competition. In the end, I ended up second, missing first by 2 or 3 feet as Andy Beddingfield passed me at the last second before crossing the finish line. After the race an informal freestyle event was held which I again got second in to Lane Jacobs. We both did super past vertical freewheels/barrel roll in the air and land flat on your hull at the bottom of the drop type things. Super fun, and we can't wait to do it again next year. After the race we went to the beach and pollished off two kegs of New Belgium beer and hopped in our tents and cars just as it started to pour down rain! In all, I weekend I won't soon forget, with a super fun race and great people.

peace,
trip

The EP Crew came together with a passion for the outdoors, a love for the river, and the goal of going huge in a kayak. This has taken us all over the world to biggest waves, rivers, and waterfalls imaginable. (Including Ed Lucero's 105 foot plunge) After producing the hit kayaking video, Bigger Than Rodeo, the crew is working even harder at upping the ante in the months to come while filming Disarm.
