Sweet Creek race this weekend!

Now that we finally have water, the Sweet Creek race is on this Saturday. Informal, fun, and really just a great excuse to get together and kayak/drink beer with your bros. Entry is free, and spectators will not be bored. The head to head race down a tight class V canyon should be super fun and great to watch. Check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/creekracing/ for all the info.

Peace,
Trip

Back in Eugene

OK so no one can claim we didn't try our hardest. We spent a week driving to breaks and looking at surf reports for the entire california and northern Baja coast and found one day of worthy surf. You know, you win some and you loose some. We didn't really loose though, our filming trip turned into a super fun California/Mexico road trip and we camped and searched for waves in some of the most beautiful places I've ever been. We heard the waves were sick in Santa Cruz the week before we went down. Any one seen Endless Summer? "We should have been there yesterday!"

There is always an even brighter side though. We returned to Oregon a day earlier than expected and found heavy rains pumping up the local creeks and rivers. After a much needed easter sunday paddle on Lake Creek, near Florance, OR, we drove home in the rain excited to see river gauges rising, and rain forcasted all week. We have tentative plans to check out the 80 foot vertical Koosa Falls, west of Eugene later this week, and we're heading to Sweet Creek in the coast range today. Not only that, but; we may have enough water to host the Sweet Creek race/freestyle event this Saturday. Basically the EP crew is fired up right now cause it's going to be a good week! I knew all those naked 3am rain dances would pay off eventually, thank you rain gods!

Peace and unity,
Trip

Hello from Baja Mexico!

Well...welcome to the EP blog. Currently the crew, or at least some of it is in Baja Mexico looking for surf. We´ve found a few good breaks, but, more than anything else, we´re looking, waiting, and playing on the beach. I can´t complain.

Karl, LJ, and myself hopped in the EP Suby and made the over 20 hour drive with one of our close nonkayaker friends, Carley. We stayed at La Fonda the first night in Mexico, just south of Tiujana. Some ok waves, dirty beaches, and great burritos. Next we headed down to Punta Cabras, a beautiful headland with beaches on either side of the point, again OK waves, and an absolutely beautiful camping spot. Now we´re still on the search for waves. Looks like a good north swell is brewing, so hopefully we´ll get some sick waves and great video. Luck is sorta with us so far in that we´ve not been hassled or questioned by the Federales with sawed offs or machine guns. We´ve also avoided los ladrones (thieves) we´ve heard so many stories about. Surfers being held up at gun point and such, a little surf and we´ll be set! (Everyone think big waves in Baja!)

peace,
trip

About Epicocity

Trip Jennings

The EP Crew came together with a passion for the outdoors, a love for the river, and the goal of going huge in a kayak. This has taken us all over the world to biggest waves, rivers, and waterfalls imaginable. (Including Ed Lucero's 105 foot plunge) After producing the hit kayaking video, Bigger Than Rodeo, the crew is working even harder at upping the ante in the months to come while filming Disarm. Check our blog for updates along the way, and for more info check out our website, www.epicocity.com. To buy Bigger Than Rodeo, click here.
