Red Bull Snowthrill of Alaska Girdwood, Alaska March 28, 2000 Athlete's Voice by Chris Davenport: How to Score After one day of heli-accessed, big-mountain competition on Jim's Rock at Aleyeska Resort, France's Francine Moreillon and Canada's Hugo Harrison lead the Freeskiing World Tour Finals. As of Monday, March 27, the competition is on weather hold.
Conditions are currently cloudy and overcast, with flat light and low visibility according to Mountain Sports International organizer, Adam Comey. However, 12 new inches of snow fell overnight. "We're going to wait a while longer, but if it doesn't clear up, everybody is going to go freeskiing today. The snow's pretty good," Comey said. Organizers have seven days in which to pull off three days of heli-accessed freeskiing competition. Four weather days will allow them to wait for optimal flying and skiing conditions.
