It's Dumping
Tahoe Could Get Three Feet
Friday, October 10, 1997

The Sierra Nevada is getting the white stuff nice and early this year. Letās just hope it sticks and sticks around for a long, fluffy, winter.

"If it snows all weekend weāll have three to four feet by Monday," the happy snow phone operator at Sugarbowl, in Norden, California, said Friday. Donner Summit received up to ten inches Wednesday night and as of Friday morning there was a snow advisory in effect in the Greater Lake Tahoe and Eastern Sierras area.

As of Friday afternoon, snow continued to fall at 5500 feet in the north to 7000 feet south and it was reported up to a foot of the fresh would fall overnight. The forecast for Saturday says the snow level would drop to 5000 feet.

There is also snow forecasted throughout the weekend in Sun Valley, Idaho and for Sunday in Aspen, CO.

Time to tune your board(s) kids, even though you might not get any "commercial" tracks, thereās got to be some hidden treasures worth walking for (at least get sledding!). The Sierra resorts have said they most likely will not open until the end of the month. We can feel it and itās gonna be big. — Sarah Love, Mountain Zone Staff
