Specialized Introduces Body Geometry Fit System
system determines specific vertical (V) and horizontal (H) coordinates
Friday, September 6, 2002

Morgan Hill, Ca. -- In line with its mission to be the best cycling brand in the world, Specialized has announced a dynamic new bicycle fitting system known as The Body Geometry Fit System. The project is a result of Specializeds collaboration with fit experts Andy Pruitt (Boulder Center for Sports Medicine) and legendary frame builder Ben Serotta (Serotta bicycles)

A quantum leap in the way a major bicycle brand addresses bike fit, the system incorporates a rider's background, height, flexibility and inseam to determine specific vertical (V) and horizontal (H) coordinates. Using unique inseam measurement and Vertical/Horizontal tools, the process can take a rider from the shop door to a properly fit bike in approximately 15 minutes.

"The breakthrough is in the system's simplicity" said Mike Sinyard, President and Founder of Specialized. Ben Serotta adds, "Andy and I have been friends and colleagues for years and have long exchanged views and ideas on bike fitting issues, so it's both exciting as well as a privilege to be able to work together on such a significant project."

Specialized Bicycles, founded in Morgan Hill, CA in 1974, designed and manufactured the first production mountain bike, which now resides in the Smithsonian Institute. Specialized is a company of devout cyclists obsessed with creating cutting edge, functional and technically advanced products that provide a performance benefit for the cycling enthusiast. Specialized products are available exclusively through Specialized dealers, or on the Web at www.specialized.com
