The Giro Score goggles have an aggressive-looking frame and are made to be worn with or without a helmet. It features a full-volume SuperFit™ frame for exceptional venting as well as variable positioning outriggers for added comfort.
I had the opportunity to test these goggles on my last snowboarding trip to Alpental mountain. As far as test conditions go, the skies were clear but it was nearing the evening so the sun had sunk behind the mountain and the slopes were covered in shade.
My first impression was that the lenses provided great clarity and definition of the terrain even in the low-light conditions. I rode on both flats and moguls and was equally satisfied with both. To cater to the different conditions, the Giro Score goggles come with pop-out lenses and can be replaced with: Clear, Gold Boost, Persimmon, Rose, or Rose Silver.
The SuperFit™ frame did allow for great venting – but maybe too much. At high speeds I felt that at times there was too much air flowing through the goggles which gave my eyes some trouble. But at least the goggles never fogged up.
Another great feature of the Giro Score goggles is the highly flexible frame and lenses. Thankfully I didn’t get a chance to test this but I could see how this would be a useful feature if one were to take a hard spill.
My only complaint is that the goggles felt uncomfortable around the cheek bone area. Towards the end of the day I found myself frequently re-setting the goggles trying to find a more comfortable position for them on my face.
