Rob DesLauriers
Age 34, Victor, Idaho

A skier, mountaineer, and cinematographer, Rob is a nine year veteran of The North Face alpine team. Appearing in over 20 films, Rob is one of the original skiers of the "extreme skiing" genre in the United States.

Over the past four years, Rob's focus has evolved to include alpine mountaineering and he has pioneered first descents in Nepal, Peru and Alaska. His in-depth experience culminated with the brilliant documentation of the first snowboard descent of Artesonraju (19,767ft.) in Peru on a 50° face last June. In December 1998, Rob was named by Powder Magazine as one of the top 50 skiers in North America.

In 1996, Rob and his brother Eric founded Straight Up films. Footage gathered during the Altai Ski-Snowboard Expedition will be used for their backcountry adventure documentary "Higher on the Mountain" to be released in the fall, 1999.
