Thyangboche Monastary sits at 12,680 feet atop a wooded ridge overlooking acres of rhododendron forest. Towering above it is Ama Dablam on the right, and on the left, the summit of Everest is just visible above the massive Nuptse ridge. John Hunt, leader of the '53 British expedition spoke for many when he called it "one of the most beautiful place in the world."
